This prevents particles from embedding themselves in the fabric fibers, which can dull the color and cause premature wear. For stubborn dirt, use a soft-bristled brush or your fingernail to loosen it before vacuuming.

  • Rotate Cushions: If your sofa has reversible cushions, flip and rotate them weekly. This ensures even wear and helps the cushions maintain their shape and firmness.

 

Handling Spills and Stains: Act Fast, Dab Don't Rub

 

When accidents happen, a quick and correct response is crucial. Remember this golden rule: Dab, don't rub! Rubbing can push the stain deeper into the fabric and make it more difficult to remove.

  1. Blot the Spill: Immediately use a clean, dry, white cloth or paper towel to blot up as much of the liquid as possible.

  2. Apply a Cleaning Solution: Dab the stain with a clean, damp cloth. For more persistent stains, you can use a mild detergent solution (e.g., a few drops of dish soap in a cup of water) or a specialized upholstery foam cleaner. Always test the cleaner on a small, hidden area of the fabric first to ensure it won't cause discoloration.

  3. Rinse and Dry: Use a new cloth with plain water to dab the area, removing any soap residue. Allow the area to air dry completely before using the sofa again.
